Ducati Multistrada!

Awesome motorcycle, a great all-round machine. Comfortable with a feel of authority. Good gas sipper. Great engine that have been around for a long time. 90 horses yet feels like it has more power. Great legs; fully adjustable Ohlins, front and back.  Not too much technology in it, just basic necessity.  On the dashboard: gas mileage, gas gauge, range traveled, temps, speedometer, tachometer, and few other tidbits and one last high tech on the bike is the electronic fuel injection. Lovely Multistrada!  Came out into the world in 2003 and bow out just this year.

Am I sad? Yeah but not by that much.  It’s a great bike and I still have one. I don’t intend to replace it with the all new Multistrada 1200.  I like it because it’s nimble, doesn’t feel heavy, looks sexy, and the ergo’s great. You can trot on it all day long where the roads never ends. Does it have off-road capabilities? Well, yeah, if you an expert on tearing up the grass then it can. I ain’t much of an off-road rider but I’ve seen others taking this bike on the dirt and making it really dirty and, yes, I’ve seen it on photos where the Multistrada flies.

Ducati have now just came out with a new motorcycle that will bear the name “Multistrada”. I read about it and kept up to date on this new machine. I would love to take a long demo ride so that I can jot down simple facts and opinions about the new bike on my blog. Well, don’t worry, I’ll post it up as soon as I finished riding.  Still, let me state the facts on this bike: it now has a water-cooled superbike engine, the 1198cc 150hp monster of a twin cylinder motor; on-the-fly-by-the-button adjustable power, suspension, traction control and brake electronic system; new body design, new ergos, adjustable windscreen, exhaust system now short and on the right side, and three color selection: white, black, and sexy blood red. In my short and sweet opinion, I give it two thumbs up, five stars rating, and drool factor to the power of 10!  Yowza.  If you ask me what the hell do you mean this bike has “on-the-fly-by-the-button adjustable power”??  See, just using your opposing thumbs, you have four settings: Sports, Enduro, Urban, and Tour.  Press Sport, the bike’s an animal ready to do your evil bidding, 150hp all the way to make you wet your pants and suspension setting to firm to rip the roads in half, traction control on with abs off. Pop the button to Urban, the engine will calm itself down to 100hp good enough for your first date, soften the shocks enough for you to glide through the streets filled with potholes, and abs turned on.

If your first date was dreadfully embarrassed, the click the button of escape, the Enduro mode, the bike will grow it’s legs (the suspensions) making itself a giant, enough to make SUV scream with fear and pee oil on the ground, the engine will set itself to a 100hp,  and abs totally off. Of course the suspension will be softer enough for off-roading. Cannot do the dirt, there’s touring mode, only good if your date went well and fancy to spend a long trip with you and your bike.  Touring mode set the bike to 150hp, suspension plusher for two, abs on, and maybe traction control on.  I am still not sure on traction control yet. Couldn’t find anymore infos on it.

Okay, the bike’s great but, just one thing concerns me, is too much technology good for a long road trip that take you to way out to bumblefuck or Timbuktu?  Goes the same for BMW R1200GS and GS Adventure. OO well, I hope Ducati makes them very durable. Hopefully more bulletproof than durable.

Anyway, here are the photos:
